Elias has been really quick to pick up on his ABC's and counting (at least up to 5), but colors have been really difficult for him to keep track of. I'm not too concerned since he's only two, but this past week he seemed to be taking more interest than normal in colors, so I jumped on the opportunity and made him this color sorting game.
I used a bulk box of crayons as my sorting tray and gave each compartment a specific color. I used paint swatches for most of them. I also included the name of each color since he is so interested in letters right now.
I then went though all of the toys and found about 5 items per color for him to sort. I don't have any pictures of him actually sorting, but he had a blast doing it! It took a couple of days to get through all of the items. I just left it in the dining room where it was easily accessible for times during the day when he needs to entertain himself, like during dinner prep. By the time he had sorted through all of the items, he could identify all of the colors almost perfectly! He was so proud of his achievement!
