Playing with eggshells

Amelia is getting to the age where she really enjoys sensory play and can stay focused on a task for 15-20 minutes. Today, I saved some eggshells for her to explore.

I washed them and let them dry for several hours before giving them to her. She spent a long while just picking them up and putting them back into the bowl. Eventually, she began crushing them in her hands.

And of course, dumping them out and putting them back in the bowl. Several times. I love how simple the prep and clean up are for this kind of sensory play. And how broad of an age range it covers. I'm sure Elias would still enjoy crushing eggshells, even though he's almost 3.
